Glad it’s 2015

I have absolutely, completely forgotten that I had a blog.  Someone was so kind to want to follow it, so I best catch up.

I need to write more for sure.

We started out at the end of Winter, making plans to move to Colorado.  I want to be closer to kids and grands  and Katie would like to be closer to her family.  She has a piece of property across from her brother Bobby.  I contacted my old builder friend, Blaine, who built the “Mountain House” on the corner of 29th and 18th, West of Loveland.  Construction would be the same, foam backed cement, very energy efficient. At least half the house I originally built with a sunroom for the swim spa.

We had found a broker, at of all things the music store.   Vicki even had someone who might be interested!  And they came out and looked and seemed to like the ole homestead.  I was busy packing. I had most of the stuff into boxes and had tucked them away in the little barn, the horse trailer and the big barn.  We would use the horse trailer to move.

We took time out to go to Washington to get married.  i was busy sewing dresses for katies’s grandchildren.  My sister was out to visit from Anchorage and would fly with us to be a witness.

The wedding was uneventful, I have a video and pictures. I did notice Katie wasn’t breathing very well and was convinced she had bronchitis or pneumonia.  I got her to the doctor as soon as we got back home.  the ‘Doc in a box” as katie calls her prescribed some heavy duty anti-biotics.  ten days later with no improvement, we went back, this time a chest xray.  Dr. Sue sent us immediately to the emergency room.  The Pulmonologist took one look and katie was in intensive care, with a lung drain.  They then put her in a room on the eighth floor.  We thought because they had no room in General.  The 8th floor is the Cancer floor.  And, soon after came the diagnosis: Stage Four Lung Cancer!

As you know from reading any of my writing, I have wonderful sense of humor. Well, guess what kiddoes, there is nothing funny about cancer.  The best i cand is to call katie “my fine tethered friend” for the oxygen hose she wears 24/7.

We have gone through 6 iterations of 3 cancer drugs.  The ONCO had to give us a vacation because one of the drugs, Carbo Platin, almost completely destroys the red and white blood cells.  Thursday we start up again with two of the drugs, called maintenance drugs, Avastin and Alimta.

i will try to blog more often.

On The Prairie June 2013

Dear all,

As usual we have gone from 2 feet of snow in May to 99 degrees.  Wyoming doesn’t have a ‘Spring’ per say. ‘Matter fact, June is our growing season.  I have tried in years past to start tomatoes in time to plant them in June.  This year I missed it.  I missed planting the peas.  I might now get the squash planted in time either.   This year I do plan on doing some camping and sailing.   Report to follow!
